Bakersfield Animal Care Center Encouraging Residents to Adopt ‘Large’ Dogs

From now until the end of the month, the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center is waiving adoption fees, encouraging people to foster or adopt larger dogs.

The Care Center has teamed up with Best Friends Animal Society to rally Bakersfield residents to take home these dogs considered 40 lbs or more.

Community Engagement Coordinator Nicole Gitzke says most of the time, people want little dogs or puppies so they really want to showcase some of the amazing big dogs they have.

Julie Johnson, the Executive Director of the Bakersfield SPCA says This Living Large Campaign will
hopefully spotlight all of our wonderful Large Dogs that have been so overlooked for so long! We can’t
wait to showcase these sweet pups.
