Bakersfield Police reports nine people were arrested, two juveniles detained… …after protests in Downtown Bakersfield turned violent Sunday night. Authorities say the protest was, for the most part, peaceful during the day Sunday. When night fell however, BPD says protestors began blocking traffic lanes. Police declared an unlawful assembly and ordered protestors to disperse. Protestors then confronted police, with a firecracker being thrown at officers. No reports of injuries or significant damage.
